It has been ever so long since I have updated the blog, although we have been taking pictures, and living "the life", it does seem difficult to find the time to sit down and write about it all (not to mention the time it takes to upload). The last couple of months have been extremely exciting ones for the Lee family. There have been birthdays,DI tournaments, trips, Easter, more DI tournaments, more birthdays, theater, more trips, and coming up in the near future, more birthdays and more DI tournaments!! I have finally chosen some of the pictures to blog from DI and our family pilgrimage to Yankee stadium.
I am starting with the first DI tournament in Andover that was on March 8th. Sophie's team did a challenge called "DI've got a Secret" that involved a optical illusion, and Hannah's team did "Hit or Myth" that involved proving, or in their case, disproving a myth, fairy tale, or urban legend.
They chose the myth of Hansel and Gretal and did experiments to prove that a candy house could not survive in the forest. The tournament was long, but fun and Hannah's team ended up winning first place and the honor of going on to states in Worcester. Sophie's team came in fourth which was great for such a young team, but the result was a river of tears!(luckily I don't have any pictures of this)

DI Regionals
In this picture Hannah watches her team mate Evan play chess:

Sophie and other Chelmsford kids march into the gym for the award ceremony, this is about 1/2 hour pre-tears:

Between DI tournaments we made a pilgrimage to New York to see the Yankees play in Yankee stadium before they move to their "new and improved" stadium next year.
Gene and Sophie were thrilled. Hannah enjoyed being the black sheep in the crowd, a role Sophie usually plays as a Yankee in New England.

Here's a picture of the 59th street bridge to set the mood:

The following are a series of photos taken of my two yankee fans outside the stadium.
They are all so cute I couldn't chose which one to use, so I included all of them :)

This picture tells you Sophie's favorite player. A good thing to know when looking at the rest of the pictures.

We were expecting rain, but the umbrella came in handy for the glaring sun. We all ended up with sunburns!

DI States
Hannah's team was awarded first place at the DI regional tournament which meant her team advanced to the state tournament at Worcester Polytechnical Institute in Worcester, MA.
It was an exciting day for the kids, more exciting as the day went on. Gene was sure to get more pictures of Hannah's team at this meet.
Hannah and her teammate Kelly prepare for their performance:

Hannah publicly embarrasses me by wishing me a happy birthday on stage. This resulted in the whole room singing to me. Ugh!

The kids were happy and surprised to win a special award at states, the Renaissance award,
for the design and thoroughness of their experiment. It was quite an honor.

So, the whole team, the whole family is off to Tennessee from May 20 - 25 to perform in the GLOBAL Tournament!!!

More DI pictures to come in June!!!
