Halloween - the final chapter

I now feel like Halloween 2005 is finally over! (sigh of relief) Tonight the weather was absolutely fabulous and we made it out and about farther than ever. The girls had a great time with the exception of a few dogs that made life miserable. Sophie complained of a tummyache the last 1/2 half hour but it was magically cured when she got home and emptied her candy bag onto the floor.
Well, that's all folks Halloween is done.

Here is the obligatory pre-trick or treat picture. Posted by Picasa

I like this picture because of 1. Gene sneaking into the background and 2. It looks like horns are coming out of Nathans head. 3. Hannah's goofy Wednesday smile 4. You can really see Sophies dress Posted by Picasa

Halloween Part II

The Halloween party.
On Friday afternoon we decided to have a Halloween party on Sunday. We managed to pull off a very cool party. Most of the day was fun and the weather was just beautiful. And with the exception of one kid(not ours) throwing up, a dog running into our yard in the middle of the party, and Gene breaking the finger of our friend the cardiologist/surgeon(see photo), the day was pretty perfect. Sophie was so exhausted last night that Gene and I had to work our hardest to keep her awake til the late hour of 7:30!! I can't believe that tonight is trick or treating! I hope everyone is up to it! I have a feeling after all the excitement of yesterday that it won't be a late night. BTW, Sophie is going to be Snow White again tonight. The princess has prevailed over the spider. In fact, she is so enthralled with the idea of being a princess that yesterday before the party she asked if I would announce her to all our guests so she could make a grand entrance. As if! You can guess what my answer was.

As predicted a lot of people didn't know who our Wednesday was. Pilgrim was a popular vote. During the party I overheard many people calling her "Tuesday" and "Sunday". Aren't they clever? Hannah was quite satisfied being so mysterious. And has the making of a fine party planner herself someday.

Gene wore the scariest outfit he could find. His Yankees shirt.

This is a group shot of our party taken after only some of the guests had arrived. I knew I would get busy so I took the shot while I could. Please note Sophie's red cape (explained later) Posted by Picasa

We put a giant spider web on the swingset and the kids are playing "eat the marshmellow with out using your hands game." This is the five and six year old round. The older kids were too fast to photograph! You'll notice an abandoned marshmellow between the bride and the princess stage left. The kid at that post lost his cookies right before I said go. Unfortunately for Sophie she had taken her Snow White cape off before the game and put in on the ground in front of the child who got sick. I don't think I need to say anything else but you will notice in future pictures that Sophie is NOT wearing her cape. (don't worry I washed it for tonight's festivities) Posted by Picasa

One of the games we played at the party was "mummy wrap" where the kids mummify willing (or coerced parents) In this case Gene and our friend Omar (a very good sport) Posted by Picasa

Halloween part I

We have a very busy halloween weekend planned this year. Tomorrow we are hosting a party with all the guts and goopy stuff that a halloween party should have. We are not quite to the years where the kids enjoy true scare-your-pants off type of stuff but at least we are beyond the princess years and can have games that aren't too cute for halloween.
Today we carved pumpkins and shopped for the party. Tomorrow I should have more pictures from the party and then of course Monday is halloween. Tomorrow Sophie will be Snow White, on Monday, for trick or treating, she will be a spider. It represents the dichotomy of her thinking right now - Am I still a princess? Or have I moved on?
Hannah is going to be Wednesday Adamms which seems just perfect for her. However, I am not sure anyone is going to know who she is. Oh well!

Look for more pictures tomorrow or monday, or maybe tuesday if we get really busy!
